It is all the rage at the moment and it has changed dramatically over the last twelve months. It’s the (not so) humble blog.
Blogging was once a teenage girl trend, where the girls could express themselves to their friends and anyone else in the world who may be interested. Face book and MySpace are the main ones they use now, although the commercial use of these sites is becoming popular, too.
Blogs have grown up and more serious people see the value in an easy to set up, easy to post to, and easy to adapt form of communication and blogging has taken over as the preferred method of keeping in contact.
People see the value of having an easily updated communications page on their websites. It is especially valuable to business people as it is a great form of instant communication, which is publicly available for potential customers to see how your business operates. Imagine being able to handle customer’s queries in one post and having it visible to all potential and actual customers, to help with their questions. It saves a lot of phone time, tying up a staff member’s time, and it relieves the mind of potential customers regarding their support issues.
This year has seen so many businesses beginning to use blog format web pages exclusively. The interactivity and instant gratification for customers is a major benefit and the ease of posting is great for business owners without computer skills. In the static web pages, the businessperson needed to know the basics of FTP and some HTML to alter his web pages, but with blogging, they only need to know how to open a webpage on the internet.
The look of a blog site has changed as more businesses are using this format for their web presence. It is hard to tell some of the sites are blogs, as they do not appear to have the traditional design.
The amount of interest in blogging has been great for the blog designs and formats with so many different looks available and so many different extensions and adaptations around. It is easy to find a “look” for your site that is unique and stands out from other businesses of your type. Blogging has really come of age and the wise businessperson will not miss this method of communicating with customers and advertising his business.
