How To Decide On A Mailing List Topic

You want to set up an opt-in page to build your list. You need to decide what you are going to offer to get people to sign with you. Your incentive has to be valuable to your potential subscriber. They need a good reason to give you their email address and name.

There are a few popular options. Some examples are an e-course, an e-zine, a newsletter, a blog, a special report, or regular emails.

Emails are probably your worst option because they are often deleted without being opened. How many emails do you get each day? Unless your emails are very eye-catching, you should probably not use this option.

An e-course establishes you as an expert in your field. It is a good way to build a reputation as long as the information or training is of the best quality.

A blog is good but you need something to remind them to keep coming back. There are some excellent examples around of incentives and reminders used by bloggers to get customers to check regularly for new posts.

Special reports are great, especially as an introduction to another product. One method that is becoming popular is to offer the first few chapters of an e-book and then get the customer to buy the rest.

An ezine or newsletter is the best option for building a relationship with your subscribers. If subscribers find your information interesting, entertaining and valuable, you will be able to sell them so much as they will trust your opinion because they will feel you are a friend, not just another marketer.
