If you want a successful internet business, no matter what niche you are in, you need a list of contact details for potential customers. A great way to build a list of potential customers is to offer a newsletter. Your subscribers are your customers, and internet marketers call this your ‘list’.
If you are thinking of replacing your regular job, you need a list of customers to make a regular, reliable income. If you go for quantity over quality, you are looking at 15,000 subscribers, minimum. If you get a quality list of highly targeted buyers, you can probably get away with 5,000 subscribers. These are bare minimum figures, just to give you an idea of what you need.
The reason you need a list is statistics tell us most people won’t buy the first time they see an advertisement. They need exposure to the message about seven times before they pull out their credit card. This means that if you do not get their contact details, you are missing many sales.
Customers that have bought from you before are considered more valuable, as they have proven they are buyers. They also cost less to acquire, as every time you make money from them, the cost of getting that customer against the money they make for you becomes less.
When you are just starting out you probably will not want to spend a lot of money getting a list but if you are serious about running a successful business, you need to put everything in place to collect and retain every customer and potential customer.
Once you have your process or system in place, you can then use several cheap and free methods to start gathering contact details to build your list.
