Use Total Honesty When Selling to Friends

Ever since the bad old days of Amway, people have been reluctant to sell to, or to buy from friends.

Amway (and the others) was not a bad company and their products were quite good but the aggressive style of marketing to friends, family and acquaintances turned many people off the word-of-mouth style of marketing. Some entrepreneurs ended up with their friends running away whenever they saw them coming because they all had heard the sales pitch one time too often.

Selling to friends has become somewhat of a no-no because of the aggressive approach but when you have a great product that can really benefit your friends, what can you do?

I have found my enthusiasm for the product is enough to get them interested. When my friends ask what I’m up to now, I tell them about what I’m doing to earn money from the internet. I don’t offer to sign them up or make any sales pitch but I show them how well things are going for me.

If you are casual in your approach, and if you just answer their questions, instead of trying to sell, you will find they come to you for more information. If you truly believe in the product, your natural honesty and zeal will shine through and your friends will want you to tell them more.

A word of warning though, at all times you must be completely honest. Never lie to your friends about any part of your business. If you do, they will find out eventually, and you will be left with no friends and no customers.
