What Is A Landing Page?

A landing page is also called an opt-in or sign-up page. It is not a sales page. Its purpose is to gather contact details of potential customers. It should have no links to other sites.

To make your landing page look professional you need to keep it uncluttered. A single column is the best format. You do not want to distract your customer from giving you their information.

Use a large headline. Try to make it interesting. Your reader needs to have their eyes ripped from their heads, their necks wrenched from turning to your headline. Make them curious to find out more about the benefits you are offering.

The writing needs to read easily. A font like Arial is good. The colours need to be easy on the eyes. Black writing on a white background is good. Many people are tired and reading small, fussy fonts on backgrounds with little contrast is uncomfortable, so they will not even read your page.

You need to remember who your target audience are and use an appropriate form of speech. If you are going for a friendly approach, colloquialisms may be beneficial. If you want to establish yourself and develop trust, which is what you should be doing, add a picture of yourself.

If you want people to think of you as a family person, try adding a picture of yourself with the family. A casual snap could work better than a formal portrait, depending on the image you wish to present.

Remember the purpose of the landing page is to get people to give you their email addresses. Give them good reasons to signup. Solve their problems. Give them something of value.

It is a good idea to highlight the points of your offer with bullet points. Many people will skim over a page and the bullets draw their eyes. They may only read these so make sure your offer and the benefits are clear.

In order to get a better quality score from Google for your page you may want to add a contact page, a privacy page and a sitemap. You may even add a link to your blog.

Your landing page is a quick introduction, which needs to compel a potential customer to give you their contact details. Keep this in mind at all times and you will not fail.
